Showtime for the BMW S 1000 R. Dynamic Roadster outside, Superbike DNA inside. The chassis and engine carry the genes of the RR. Ultra agile, ultra-precise. Even more sophisticated, even more aggressive. The BS6-compliant BMW S1000R naked roadster has been launched in the Indian market to rival the likes of the Ducati Streetfighter V4 and the Kawasaki Z H2. The motorcycle is available in three variants – Standard, Pro, and Pro M Sport in the Indian market.
It gets a 999cc inline-four- the liquid-cooled motor produces 165bhp power at 11,000rpm and 114Nm of peak torque at 9,250rpm. The engine links to a six-speed gearbox. The latest iteration of the BMW S1000R gets a complete makeover. The styling revisions include an updated front fascia that uses an all-new LED headlight instead of the asymmetric styling theme on its predecessor. The new headlight design resembles the units on the 2021 BMW G310R and the F900R.
The latest model also gets a sharper design for the fuel tank side panels, tank center cover, R-shaped side panels, radiator shrouds, and belly pan. At the back, the naked roadster uses the S1000RR-inspired tail-end. The S1000R BS6 comes equipped with full LED lighting as standard. The cockpit receives an upgrade with a Bluetooth-enabled 6.5-inch TFT display instead of the semi-digital unit on its predecessor. The standard model weighs 199kg, and the Pro M Sport variant is 194kg heavy.
BMW Motorrad will offer three colors for the motorcycle – Racing Red, Hockenheim Silver Metallic, and Light White/M Motorsport (only with Pro M Sport). The electronic rider aids include three modes (Rain, Road, and Dynamic), anti-hopping clutch, traction control system, ABS Pro, and Hill Start Control as standard. The Pro and Pro M Sport variants offer additional features such as Riding Modes Pro, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), engine drag torque control MSR, engine brake control, and Power Wheelie control.
The premium variants also benefit from keyless rides, a USB charger, heated grips, cruise control, gear-shift assist, adaptive, and daytime running lights. The suspension setup on the latest S1000R includes 45mm upside-down front forks and a mono-shock at the back. The braking duties are performed by 320mm twin discs with four-piston calipers at the front and a single 220mm rotor with a single-piston caliper at the rear. The current ex-showroom BMW S 1000 R price is ₹ 19,00,000.
