Introduction to the Ola S1 Air
The much-awaited bike is finally here, boasting exciting prices and features. To begin with, this scooter represents an evolution of entry-level electric scooters. Let’s take a closer look at its features and specifications.
Design and Comfort
Firstly, the styling of the bike is quite similar to the Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro; however, it includes a few subtle tweaks, such as blacked-out lower panels and a flatter floor. As a result, there is now more space for your feet, ensuring that taller riders also enjoy a comfortable riding position. In addition, the pillion grab handle features a simple design and is complemented by steel wheels. The reason behind this choice is that the scooter is equipped with a hub motor.
Performance and Specifications
Specifically, this bike has a hub motor that delivers a peak power of 80PS, paired with a 2.5kW battery. Consequently, it claims a remarkable acceleration time of just 4.3 seconds to reach 40 km/h. Furthermore, the top speed is relatively impressive, reaching 85 km/h. Notably, without compromising on performance, this scooter has shed 25 kilos from the S1 Pro due to its efficient motor and battery.
Range and Suspension
Moreover, the Ola S1 Air provides a riding range of 101 km on a full charge in eco mode, which is decent for urban commuting. In terms of suspension, the fancy single-arm shock of the S1 has been replaced with a more conventional telescopic fork at the front. Meanwhile, a twin shock and swing arm arrangement is used at the rear, considering that it operates a hot motor.
Braking System
Additionally, braking is managed by drum brakes at both ends, which, unfortunately, represents a dramatic step backward in safety.
Features and Pricing
Lastly, this bike retains nearly all the features of the Ola S1 Pro, including a generous 34 liters of boot space, a large touchscreen, navigation, speakers, and various riding modes. However, a few features, such as hyper mode, kill hole assist, and other minor options, are noticeably absent. Overall, it comes in five attractive colors: Blue, White, Red, Black, and Grey. Currently, the ex-showroom price of the bike is ₹ 3,12,000.
